The Review on the Therapy of CO Poisoning

Abstract
|
|
|
Carbon-monoxide Poisoning has been a serious problems because of reamrkably high incidence all over the country.
The author has made a review on the problems of CO poisoning and Drug therapy of CO poisoning by intensive review of the literatures concerned.
The findings from this review could be outlined as follows;
1. The major mechanisms of CO poisoning are double actions of interference with oxygen carriage and oxygen unloading.
2. Treatment of CO poisoning must be aimed to the recovery of oxygen carriage by the dissociation of carboxyhemoglobin through oxygen therapy.
3. The Hyperbaric oxygenation is the best choice of the treatment in CO poisoning, but Drug therapy is also desirable in the situation when the Hyperbaric oxygenation is not available or as combined therapy with Hyperbaric oxygenation.
4. Cytochrome C & Sodium Succihate have been known to be the effective therapeutics.
5. More extensive experimental and clinical study on Drug therapy should be carried to establish the confirmed therapy by drugs.
